Since 1997, FADO FILMES produced more than 40 films, with a total audience of almost 9 million spectators from all around the world. It is thus one of the oldest and most active film production companies in Portugal, with a significant presence and numerous prizes from well-known national and international festivals.

Almost all of FADO FILMES' films were co-produced with other countries and with the support of international funds, such as Eurimages, Ibermedia, Media and ACP Films, which makes it the Portuguese producer that has obtained the most international support. FADO FILMES' films have participated in hundreds of festivals, several of them Class A, including selections and prizes in Cannes, San Sebastian and Venice.

It also received the only GOYA awarded to a film that was a majority Portuguese production, “FADOS”.  In terms of the internationalization of Portuguese cinema, FADO FILMES is also at the top, and probably holds first place with “FADOS” by Carlos Saura, sold in over 70 territories and “ELAS - WOMEN” by Luís Galvão Teles sold in over 30 territories with 250.000 spectators officially counted in Europe, in addition to the numerous TV broadcasts, many of which on prime-time. “DOT.COM” was sold in over 20 territories and almost half a million spectators watched “FADO BLUES” by Luís Galvão Teles on the international platform of VOD/Internet Viewster TV.

In the last five years, FADO FILMES produced “GELO – ICE”, “GREY AND BLACK”, “THE GREAT MYSTICAL CIRCUS”, “SOFT DRINKS AND LOVE SONGS”, “PARIS SQUARE”, “ERMERA ROSES”, “GRANMA 19 AND THE SOVIET’S SECRET” and co-produced “LA PASSIÓN DE JAVIER” and “PRIVATE DESERT”, winner of the People’s Choice Award at Giornate degli Autori 2021.
