Carlos Saura
Spanish director, writer, producer and actor. When he was a teenager, he began practicing photography and, in 1950, he made his first feature films with a 16 mm camera.
Saura is a well-accepted director both nationally and internationally and, as proof of this, he has won many awards, among which the following stand out: Silver Bear at the Berlin Film Festival for The Hunt (1966) in 1965 and for Fixed Idea (1967) in 1967. Special Jury Prizes at Cannes for La prima Angélica (1974), in 1973, and for Cria Corvos (1976), in 1975. In addition, the film Mamá cumple 100 años (1979) was nominated for the Oscar for best foreign film in 1979 and won the Special Jury Prize at the San Sebastian Film Festival. In 1990, he won two Goya awards, for best adapted screenplay and best director.
